Air Balloon Hill Primary School in St George, Bristol (Patron of reading)

This week I had the great pleasure of visiting my new patron of reading school, Air Balloon Hill Primary School in St George, Bristol. I was extremely privileged to listen to a group of reading recovery children read their books. Reading Recovery is a school-based, short-term intervention designed for children aged five or six, who are the lowest achieving in literacy after their first year of school. The intervention involves intensive one-to-one lessons for 30 minutes a day with a trained literacy teacher, for between 12 and 20 weeks. This image was taken at our book signing on Monday 20th February. It was fantastic meeting the children for the first time. Looking forward to the next two years as patron of reading at the school!
